August 2nd, 2008: The Show That Wasn’t

We’ve been doing this Today in UM History feature for about a week now, and we have our first day where Umphrey’s McGee has never played a show. Sort of. The band was scheduled to play a show at Atlanta’s Masquerade Music Park with STS9, however the typical Southeast summer weather came to play in a big way, knocking out power to the venue. The band was forced to cancel the show in Atlanta that night, but ended up returning in September to, you guessed it, The Tabernacle. And the legend of Umphrey’s McGee and The Tabernacle was born. Here’s what the band did the next time they came to Hotlanta:

Set One
Bridgeless* > Push the Pig, Tribute to the Spinal Shaft > Morning Song, Last Man Swerving > Bridgeless

Set Two
Pay the Snucka** > Utopian Fir > Mail Package, Anchor Drops > The Triple Wide > Ringo > Pay the Snucka

Encore
Mean Mr. Mustard > Polythene Pam > She Came in Through the Bathroom Window, 40′s Theme

Notes
* with Search 4 tease
** with Alex’s House teases
last Mean Mr. Mustard > Polythene Pam > She Came in Through the Bathroom Window 09.08.06
